A historic women’s monastery in Solothurn<\/h2>\n

The Convent of the Holy Name of Jesus in Solothurn was founded in 1609 and is the oldest women’s monastery in the canton. For over 400 years, Capuchin nuns have been living and working here according to the ideals of St. Francis and St. Clare. The convent is hidden behind high walls in the Steingruben district and includes a historic building complex with extensive corridors, a refectory, a library and a wafer bakery. Change and a sustainable future<\/h2>\n

Over the centuries, the convent has developed from a secluded community to a more open place. Since February 2024, the garden has been maintained by Chrutw\u00e4rk GmbH<\/a>, which cultivates vegetables there and sells them directly from the farm. On 2 July 2024, the convent grounds were transferred to the Edith Maryon Foundation to ensure their long-term preservation and sustainable use. A vibrant place of encounter<\/h2>\n

The Centre for Work and Silence<\/a> is also located in the monastery, which offers workspaces and studios for rent. The rooms are suitable as writing rooms, studios or offices and offer a quiet, inspiring atmosphere. The therapy rooms of the KATOA<\/a> practice are located on the ground floor of the former guest wing. The centre is organised independently of the monastic life of the Capuchin nuns and is in a two-year start-up phase.<\/p>\n

The Namen Jesu convent thus remains a vibrant place of prayer, hospitality and cultural encounters in A historic women’s monastery in Solothurn<\/h2>\n

The Convent of the Holy Name of Jesus in Solothurn was founded in 1609 and is the oldest women’s monastery in the canton. For over 400 years, Capuchin nuns have been living and working here according to the ideals of St. Francis and St. Clare. The convent is hidden behind high walls in the Steingruben district and includes a historic building complex with extensive corridors, a refectory, a library and a wafer bakery. Change and a sustainable future<\/h2>\n

Over the centuries, the convent has developed from a secluded community to a more open place. Since February 2024, the garden has been maintained by Chrutw\u00e4rk GmbH<\/a>, which cultivates vegetables there and sells them directly from the farm. On 2 July 2024, the convent grounds were transferred to the Edith Maryon Foundation to ensure their long-term preservation and sustainable use. A vibrant place of encounter<\/h2>\n

The Centre for Work and Silence<\/a> is also located in the monastery, which offers workspaces and studios for rent. The rooms are suitable as writing rooms, studios or offices and offer a quiet, inspiring atmosphere. The therapy rooms of the KATOA<\/a> practice are located on the ground floor of the former guest wing. The centre is organised independently of the monastic life of the Capuchin nuns and is in a two-year start-up phase.<\/p>\n

The Namen Jesu convent thus remains a vibrant place of prayer, hospitality and cultural encounters in
